Love Yourself

Loving ourselves heals us and makes us happy. And loving ourselves is the best gift we can offer others…!!!

The reality we generally appreciate gives only a very accurate picture of our emotions, beliefs and thoughts. This process is known as projection.

The education achieved and almost the whole information we daily take up seems to deny the way of projection, proposing us the “external” reality isn’t connected with our inside, but with an inflexible scenery, on which we have very little command and we must fit properly.

Our situation is the same as the one of the Humankind shown on the film The Matrix: people caught by such a perfect illusion that enables us to “wake up” and see the world as it really is.

May be the main challenge of life is to discover the way of getting rid of this inherited model (which we were given before being able to examine and reject it), and start building ourselves, with consciousness, intentionally, a better world.

Luckily there are many sorts of assistance within our reach…

Drawing of a girl surrounded by stars

For example, the girl in this illustration shows us clearly how the beautiful stars which she is finding on her way were previously coming out of… her own head!!!

A Zen Parable:

One day a student worked up the courage to ask the Zen master, “What is it like to be enlightened?”

Without acknowledging or rejecting the seeker’s question, the master remained silent. After a time, the teacher spoke: “I eat when I’m hungry. I sleep when I’m tired.”

The questioner replied, “Well, isn’t that what everyone does?”

The master looked up in some surprise and a hint of a smile graced his lips. “Oh, you think so? Oh, no! When others eat, they think of ten thousand things and their minds endlessly run from one thing to another. When others sleep, they dream of ten thousand things and their minds create endless fantasies and dramas.”

The master closed the eyes, paused for a time, and then continued. “When I eat, I just eat. When I sleep, I just sleep… It’s far too simple, I know.”

A thought from Alan Watts:

“Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.”

A bit of humor:

Comic about the present moment, the now and here

For all practical purposes it seems that there is only one important place in the entire Universe and a single point of interest in all eternity: Now and Here…

'The Truman Show' movie poster

In this movie, the star, Truman Burbank, is the unwitting main character of a peculiar “reality show”. He has lived his entire life since birth in front of cameras, though he himself is unaware of this fact. Everything around him goes on by script and the roles are played by actors. Meanwhile, every moment of his life is being filmed and so his real emotions and human behavior are broadcast live to the world, 24 hours a day in the most popular TV-series in the World: “The Truman Show”.

There can be set an important connection between the delusion of which Truman is the victim, and what happens at any time inside us.

It’s time to love oneself…!!!

Loving oneself is an experience. It’s feeling an emotion: love for oneself. And like every real experience, it can only occur at the present time. At this exactly moment, for instance…
