Love Yourself

Loving ourselves heals us and makes us happy. And loving ourselves is the best gift we can offer others…!!!

'The Truman Show' movie poster

In this movie, the star, Truman Burbank, is the unwitting main character of a peculiar “reality show”. He has lived his entire life since birth in front of cameras, though he himself is unaware of this fact. Everything around him goes on by script and the roles are played by actors. Meanwhile, every moment of his life is being filmed and so his real emotions and human behavior are broadcast live to the world, 24 hours a day in the most popular TV-series in the World: “The Truman Show”.

There can be set an important connection between the delusion of which Truman is the victim, and what happens at any time inside us.

  • Truman’s life adjusts to a script. Although he doesn’t know it, he is not really free. With due respect to the differences, we are victims of strict family and cultural conditioning from which we cannot easily separate.

  • Those who are part of Truman’s fictitious life were carefully selected in a “casting”. Unconsciously, we also choose the company of only those people who let us follow our own “script”.

  • Truman does not question some suspicious circumstances of the life he was imposed, simply because nobody around him does. He just accepts the feeble explanations he gets when he expresses his first doubts. In our society, behaviors such as consumption or economic success give an indisputable sense to our lives, sense that many people prefer not to question.

  • Truman’s “best friend”, the one he turns to as soon as he starts suspecting the world they live in is a fake, tries by all means to keep up the lies betraying him again. It is like our ego which uses false promises to make us believe, once again, to go on living in the illusion.

  • Fear in the form of phobia to water, inculcated in Truman since he was a child in order to manipulate him, is the last barrier he has to overcome to achieve freedom. We also imagine every type of risk that prevents us from making important decisions in our lives.

  • The TV-producer’s absolute control on everything that happens in Truman’s world (in fact it is a giant studio) is similar to “that Power” we have inside us, able to carry out true miracles. Our destiny is to escape from this reality in which we seem to be trapped after having built it in details, with the aid of such Power.

  • Finally, Truman is guided by his intuition, his wish to be free and the love of the only person who was honest to him. Similar to him, freedom waits for us, and luckily we are also led by intuition, our wish to be free and love…
